The Yokote Kamakura Festival has a history of about 450 years, and is held every year in February. The festival features over 1,000 igloo-like snow houses, called "kamakura", built at various locations across the city. These are built in all sizes, from the size of a basketball to the size of a truck.
The schoolyard of an elementary school is filled with hundreds of igloos with a diameter of 35 cm (100ft) and a height of 30 cm (about 90 ft), which makes for a fantastic foreground or backdrop for your shoot. Even the police use an igloo as a temporary police station!
