This castle is considered a cultural symbol, full of the history of the kingdom. It is one of the remains of the Ryukyu Kingdom, which flourished for 450 years between 1429 and 1879. In 2000, it was registered as a World Heritage site known as ”Gusuku Sites and Related Properties of the Kingdom of Ryukyu.” Located on elevated ground overviewing the town of Naha, it was something of a holy spot.
